Accident claims 2 in Cornwall

Officers with the OPP reported that a motor vehicle accident claimed the lives of two men on Feb. 3. The accident reportedly occurred on Highway 401 around 6 a.m. in Cornwall.

Reportedly, a 54-year-old Cornwall man was driving east on the highway with a 22-year-old passenger from Quebec. His vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer being driven by a 47-year-old Brampton man. Emergency responders pronounced the 54-year-old man dead at the accident scene, while his 22-year-old passenger was transported via emergency vehicles to the hospital for treatment.… Continue Reading

Driver charged in crash that injured 10 near Stratford

An Ontario woman is scheduled for a Sept. 8 court appearance for charges stemming from a recent car accident in the rural southwestern part of the province that sent six children to hospital. A total of 10 people were injured in the July 20 crash, which happened at about 5 p.m. on Embro Road south of Stratford.

According to police, a car carrying two adults and one child crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a minivan with two adults and five children on board.… Continue Reading

1 suffers serious injuries in car accident

A six-car pileup on June 3 in Pickering resulted in four individuals suffering injuries that ranged from minor to life threatening. According to police, the accident occurred just before 4 p.m. when a Dodge minivan that was heading west on Highway 7 by Concession 6 crossed into the oncoming lane, causing it to collide with a Hyundai sedan. Shortly after the initial collision, four other vehicles crashed into the wreck.

Man gets 6 months in jail after hitting horse-drawn buggy

On May 1, a 36-year-old man pleaded guilty in connection with an accident that injured three men and killed a horse. The Ontario Court of Justice sentenced the man to six months in jail and one year of probation for the charges. As a result of the probation, the man’s DNA was put on record, he may not sit in the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle and he must undergo councelling.

First family joins class action case against car giant

A couple in Ontario is seeking the help of other victims of car accidents that occurred as a result of a faulty part in General Motors vehicles with a $500 million class-action lawsuit. Their son died in 2012, and they are the first to join the lawsuit over the defective part. The lawyer for the couple explained that they will need to obtain further paperwork, such as reports from the government, police reports and accident reconstruction reports.

2 injured in accident between car and motorcycle

A man and woman were critically injured in Toronto in a collision between a car, motorcycle and pedestrian on the evening of April 6. The car accident took place near the intersection of St. Clair Avenue East and Yonge Street about 5:30 p.m. According to witnesses, just before the accident, three motorcycles were headed north on Yonge Street.

A vehicle headed south was trying to make a left turn as the three motorcycles approached the intersection with Pleasant Boulevard. A police sergeant said that the motorist might or might not have seen the oncoming motorcycles.… Continue Reading
