Separate accidents on Hwy. 400 claim 2 lives in less than 1 day

Two fatal traffic accidents occurred on Ontario’s Highway 400 within a few hours of each other, beginning around 11 p.m. on Aug. 6 when a motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash. Around 4 a.m. the following day, an 82-year-old Vaughan woman was struck and killed by an apparent hit-and-run driver.

Following the motorcycle accident, the southbound lanes of Highway 400 were closed for several hours in the vicinity of Highway 401. The hit-and-run pedestrian accident caused lane closures for about five hours.… Continue Reading

Ontario car accident kills 1, injures 3

One person died and three others suffered injuries on June 29 in a two-vehicle collision in Ontario. The accident occurred around 3 a.m. in Kitchener. Police determined that alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the fatal accident and took one of the drivers involved into custody.

An SUV was travelling south on Manitou Drive near Bleams Road when the vehicle crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic. The SUV collided head-on with a taxicab travelling in the northbound lane. A 31-year-old Stoney Creek man who was riding in the backseat of the SUV suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the accident.… Continue Reading

Driver faces charges after deadly crash

Authorities in Ontario have charged a 26-year-old man with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death in connection to a fatal accident on June 21. The man is also facing charges of driving over the legal limit and impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Norfolk County Highway 19 near Tillsonburg.

Sources say that the deceased victim is a 54-year-old Bayham woman, and an 18-year-old female passenger of her vehicle was also injured in the crash, although her condition is not thought to be life threatening.… Continue Reading

Driver charged for crash that killed 1, injured 1

A 22-year-old man who was involved in a car accident that occurred in Ontario was faced with additional charges while in court on June 10. According to the report, the accident took place on Lauzon Road just south of Tranby Avenue at approximately 2:50 a.m. on April 4.

The man was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Blazer in the northbound lanes when the vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Impala and flipped over several times. One of the two vehicles struck a traffic pole, causing serious damage.… Continue Reading

A motor vehicle accident involving a car, an SUV and a motorcycle has resulted in the death of two people and injuries to another person. The accident occurred around 5 p.m. June 7 on Highway 17 between Veuve River Bridge and Sutcliffe Road in the town of Markstay-Warren, which is about 50 kilometres east of Sudbury. Teenage driver guilty of careless driving in fatal Ontario crash

In March 2013, a teenager was driving a 2009 Acura SUV in an easterly direction on Lake Shore Boulevard East in Toronto when his vehicle went out of control, crossed over three lanes of traffic, took out a guard rail and plunged its five teenage occupants into the Don River. One of the occupants, 16, was under water for about a half-hour. After police divers and Toronto fire fighters were able to free the teenager, he was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital but died about five hours later.… Continue Reading
